Hey guys, happy Saturday (Sunday)!
It's actually been a pretty cool week. DeepSeek, a Chinese AI alternative to ChatGPT launched. Its performance using lower grade chips caused massive fear across the semiconductor-sector. Some AI and semiconductor stocks pivoted and plummeted 14% (TSMC).

There's finally some competitiveness across the AI sector and I'm all for it. Even though my stock took a toll, I'm exited for what's to come. Competition boosts innovation.

Anyways. Here's is the second part of the summary of "How to Win Friends & Influence People:

  1. Become genuinely interested in other people.

    - People are not interested in you, they are interested in themselves.

    - We like people who admire us.

    - Greet others with animation and enthusiasm.

    - Becoming interested in a person wins their attention, time & cooperation.


  2. Smile.

    - "Actions speak louder than words."

    - A smile says "I like you".

    - Smile during calls.
    -> Your smile comes through your voice during calls.

    - In general, have a good time meeting people.
    -> A smile brings joy to others.

    - Chinese Proverb: "A man without a smiling face must not open a shop."


  3. A person's name is the sweetest and most important sound in any language.

    - People are more interested in their own names.

    - Remembering a name is a compliment.
    -> You're saying "You're important enough for me to remember your name."

    - Mispronunciation or misspelling can be fatal.

    - A name is what makes people unique.


  4. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.

    - "People who talk only of themselves, think only of themselves."

    - Nothing is as flattering as exclusive attention.

    - Be an attentive listener and be interested.

    - Ask questions the other person will enjoy answering.
    -> Encourage them to talk about themselves.

    - People are much more interested in themselves and their problems than in you and your problems.


  5. Talk in terms of the other person's interests.

    - Devote your attention to the other person's interests.

    - Talk about their interests.

    -> Talk about interests of the other person to first make yourself agreeable before you continue talking about business.


  6. Make the other person feel important– and do it sincerely.

    - Almost all people you meet feel they are superior to you.

    - Find something you can admire about the person.

    - ALWAYS make the other person feel important and appreciated
    -> Recognize their importance sincerely to gain their heart.

    - "Talk to people about themselves and they will listen for hours."

Investments:

As said at the beginning, stocks were fun. After the TSM stock crash, I bought another share as I believe the crash is just a temporary reaction. "Fear across traders" as I would call it. I also sold off all my Chinese stocks (Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu) as I didn't want to be too greedy and I knew that their prices would fall again... and they did. Right after I sold, the prices dropped by a couple percent.
